One of my Bridgwater Circle series of paintings photograph captured while walking beside the river Parrot on Salmon Parade in Bridgwater, Somerset. A black painted cast iron post/bollard sits near the Broadway road bridge, watching the rise and fall of the tide.
Street furniture or specific river ironwork. I am not sure nor am I sure exactly how old these are, there are several alongside the river and near its bridges.
I liked the background stone and riverbank colours and textures and the top of the post had white, blue and black paint, worn to the metal in places. Touched by many hands over the years. A little rust just creeping in here and there. I also noticed that man’s best friend is very fond of these everyday objects. Can you see? One has left paw prints in the concrete below this post.
