Amanda Webb on her work:
“I fell in love with willow in 2000 when I was lucky enough to be given a place on a willow workshop as a present, and it has been my material of choice ever since.
However, being a full-time teacher, weaving was just a hobby as I never had the time to fully commit to my art. That changed in 2022 when after 33 years of teaching I retired, and it was time for my passion to become my job. I now fill my days making sculptures, weaving baskets and teaching willow weaving workshops.
The willow I use is mainly heritage varieties grown on the Somerset Levels by Musgrove Willows within a few miles of my house, making it a local, environmentally friendly and sustainable material.
