This is one of the Bridgwater Circle series of paintings image captured while walking up Castle Street, Bridgwater, Somerset. Set into the pavement, this pair of rusty metal doors with circular iron rings as handles. Used for pulling the doors open into a town house cellar.
I liked the way this looked, a really ancient but still serviceable part of old Bridgwater from one of the oldest parts of the town. Inspired, I set about committing this to canvas after my Download holiday. The excitement and the riot of colour suited my mood and reminded me of the fire and fireworks on stage at the heavy metal festival.
