One of the Bridgwater Circle series of paintings. A partner painting to Bolted: this image was captured while walking round the new Robert Blake school down by the services gate on Hamp Avenue this bolthole missing its bolt is not keeping the new fencing together.
The fence has only been up a short while but nature has rushed to colonise this new home. Its first new resident, an enterprising spider. I found the combination created by the webs of a spider through the bolthole in this modern man-made barrier lovely. The painting is a small detail of life. The green and orange colours work well, the overtaking of the small habitat created by the absence of a bolt, a forgotten detail in a very long fence but ironically providing a special place for its new occupant.
